The Composites department was established in 2007 for the processing of composite materials used in industries, such as racing, automotive, marine, industrial, aviation and any other sector, where an application such as this is required to give added value to a product, improving its technological performance.

C.P.C. Composites is able to deliver a finished product through the vertical integration of the entire production process: from the design of models, through the construction of the moulds, to the creation of the finished part.

With the help of advanced technologies and 3D CAD workstations running the best software on the market, the technical department of C.P.C. designs models, moulds, equipment and geometric optimization of products in co-design with customers to individually meet their specific needs.

In the class 10,000 clean room of 180 square metres, air is filtered and the atmosphere is maintained under controlled conditions of humidity and temperature, at a greater pressure than the outside pressure.

Processing operations are carried out in the clean room using technologically advanced equipment. Tissues are cut and divided by means of an automatic oscillating blade cutting plotter, with digitizer for silhouette detection.

Details are rolled and bonded together, and vacuum bags are made. A workstation with a dual-head Virtek laser projector allows simultaneously projecting on 5 blocks. Two 220°C Panini certified autoclaves - equipped with a recorder of care cycle characteristics and details - are used along with a model 720 Binder oven used for “post-treatment” running a software for cycle programming and recording.

Trimming operations are carried out using dual parallel charger Cartesian systems, a 5-axis Gantry machining centre, an 8-position automatic tool changer in a work area of 4m x 1.8m. All trimming booths are equipped with suction benches for dust control, air conditioning and separate suction system. Here all trimming operations and the assembly of details are carried out.

The pickling process, i.e. deburring and preparation of substrates for bonding and/or painting, is achieved through the use of special sand-blasting machines for the processing of metals and composite materials using oil-free filtered compressed air.

Details are delivered after trimming, drilling, bonding, heat treatments, polishing/painting and testing. The entire process is carefully carried out under continuous CTR dimensional checks and, if necessary, photogrammetric controls, fully complete with the relevant quality documentation for traceability. Testing of models and moulds – made with two DEA Global and GOM photogrammetry 3D control machines - may be supplied on request.
